The very impressing series of silver coins minted for the Cook Islands pays tribute to most famous Cathedrals. Beautifully designed and featuring windows of stained glass, the series bears the title “The Windows of Heaven”.

The obverse of the silver coin represents an portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the inscription of the Queen’s name. There is a full-color window insert next to the portrait. The obverse also contains the legends indicating the nameof the issuing country and the face value of this silver coin.

Struck in to the reverse of this silver coin is an image showing the outside of the particular Basilica of Sacred Hearth, with a plan of the outlay of the church below. To the left is shown a section taken from within the cathedral showing a beautifully designed stained-glass window. The name of the series, city featured and year of issue are all inscribed on this side.
