This is the first issue in a new series of silver coins "Windows of History", featuring full-color stained glass inserts. In occasion of the 100th anniversary of the "Titanic", it features the glass dome overhead the first class staircase allowed the natural sunlight to cast its glow over the polished oak of the wall panelling and the elaborate balustrades.

The "RMS Titanic" owned by "White Star Line" was a passenger ship of the Olympic-class. At that time was the Titanic the largest passenger ship in the world. On the night of April 14 to April 15, 1912, the "Titanic" collided on her maiden voyage with an iceberg and sank within 2 hours and 40 minutes. 1,517 people lost their lives. This tragedy is one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history. The "RMS Titanic" could accommodate a total of 3,547 passengers and crew members.

The maiden voyage on 10 April 1912 The launch of the maiden voyage of the Titanic was in Southampton, England, and should take to the port of New York City. Edward J. Smith was the captain on the Titanic. On the night of Sunday 14th April 1912, was the sea quite and the water temperature was near freezing. It was 11:40 PM when a sailor from the vantage point saw a large iceberg directly in front of the ship and called "iceberg ahead." Unfortunately, it was already too late and a collision with the huge iceberg was inevitable. The iceberg brought the ship´s starboard side to burst.
